Weekday Preschool classes are welcoming and flexible, with 12 children in the 3s and 4s, 10 children in the 2 1/2 year old class. Parents assist in the classroom on a rotating basis, approximately once a month.  Since parents are a vital part of our Weekday staff, we require fingerprinting and background checks for those helping in the classroom. The 2 1/2 year old children (born between October and February) meet on Mondays and Thursdays with a focus on separation from parents and socializing with others. The 3s (children turning 3 before September 30) attend 3 days per week – Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, building on their exploration of the world around them. The 4s (children turning 4 before September 30) meet every morning, Monday through Friday, developing independence and practicing their skills and concepts for kindergarten. All classes meet from 9:00am to 12noon.

Weekday has a family feeling with small classes, one class per age group. Since the classes attend school on the same days, the schedule provides many opportunities to combine the children into multi age activities and play.

When the children participate in a classroom of mixed ages, they develop attitudes of caring, sharing and helping. Younger children learn to share more quickly when they observe older children sharing with them. The older children can be given small tasks to help the younger ones. The older child who has been assigned to help a younger child feels very special.

The cognitive skills of both younger and older children also grow using a multi age approach. Exposure to older children talking, counting, singing songs and listening to stories is extremely beneficial for the younger students. A younger child will imitate the play of older ones. Older children take great pleasure in the accomplishments of the younger children. The older child not only gets to practice the skill they have learned, they feel like they now have valuable knowledge to impart to a younger child. Again, multi age play and learning encourages pride and caring and sharing.
