LIZ LEHRER (MRS LEHRER), Director and current 4s Teacher, began teaching at Weekday in 1999 with the three year old class, and moved on to the directorship and four year old class in September 2008. The fours class explores science, and nature, people and community, letters, numbers, beginning reading and math – all in preparation for kindergarten. Using a variety of materials, the children are encouraged to explore, experiment and test things out for themselves, each learning at their own level. Liz graduated with a BS in Early Childhood Education and Development from Douglass College (Rutgers “University) and went on to work in day care centers and Head Start programs in New Jersey for ten years before starting a family with her husband Norm. She has two grown children, who she followed through the halls of the South Orange/Maplewood schools as a PTA volunteer and president.
HILARY DELGADO (MRS. DELGADO) is the newest staff member at Weekday, starting in 2015 as the teacher of the two year old class. She has previously worked as an elementary school teacher in the Englewood school district. She taught pre-k, kindergarten and first graders Spanish through a world language immersion program. She also taught in a kindergarten classroom with a dual language curriculum of Spanish and English. As a mother of three daughters, Hilary has been a member of our Weekday family for almost five years. In that time she’s served on the parent board and has been involved with school fundraising. Her oldest two have graduated and moved onto elementary school in West Orange; her youngest will enter the three year old class at Weekday this year. In her (limited) spare time she enjoys reading architecture and interior design blogs and trying new restaurants. She is looking forward to meeting the families and students this school year.
MEWLING LEE (MS. MEW) started when her youngest son Wyatt was at Weekday around 2010. She worked at Weekday Preschool for over five years as assistant, art enrichment educator and also lead teacher for the two and halves. She spent the last two years (2015-2017) in a full time role as director for a NYC after-school program within a non-profit organization. Mew went from working with Weekday’s thirty-five student body to serving one hundred and fifty students with a staff of thirty. Weekday is fortunate to have her back this fall and ready to teach the threes. In addition to her experience at Weekday and the NYC directorship, Mew has a BFA in fine arts from State University of New York, Oswego College. She has also studied art at Cooper Union, Parsons, SVA and FIT. Mew brings many cultural and artistic experiences to Weekday.
COURTNEY HAZLEWOOD (MS. COURTNEY) began her journey with Weekday in 2014 as a lunch bunch teacher of gymnastics. Through teaching gymnastics she found her love for teaching and began as an assistant in the four year old classroom in 2016. She is currently enrolled at Montclair State University to further pursue her dream of teaching. In my spare time Courtney runs a gymnastics program at South Mountain YMCA. And she getting married in January 2018!
