LIZ LEHRER (MRS LEHRER), Director and current 4s Teacher, began teaching at Weekday in 1999 with the three year old class, and moved on to the directorship and four year old class in September 2008. The fours class explores science, and nature, people and community, letters, numbers, beginning reading and math – all in preparation for kindergarten. Using a variety of materials, the children are encouraged to explore, experiment and test things out for themselves, each learning at their own level. Liz graduated with a BS in Early Childhood Education and Development from Douglass College (Rutgers “University) and went on to work in day care centers and Head Start programs in New Jersey for ten years before starting a family with her husband Norm. She has two grown children, who she followed through the halls of the South Orange/Maplewood schools as a PTA volunteer and president.

DIANE MALLOY (MRS MALLOY) teaches the 3 year old class, after many years of teaching the two year olds. She began teaching at Weekday over eight years ago and enjoys helping the children enter preschool, grow and learn. Introducing the children to new friends and the world around them brings excitement everyday. Diane encourages exploration and verbalization with activities in creative art, language, numbers and science . She lives in Maplewood with her husband and three children. She has a MBA/MPH from Columbia University and is glad she can use her education and life experiences in this way.

HILARY DELGADO is the newest staff member at Weekday, starting in 2015 as the teacher of the two year old class. She has previously worked as an elementary school teacher in the Englewood school district. She taught pre-k, kindergarten and first graders Spanish through a world language immersion program. She also taught in a kindergarten classroom with a dual language curriculum of Spanish and English. As a mother of three daughters, Hilary has been a member of our Weekday family for almost five years. In that time she’s served on the parent board and has been involved with school fundraising. Her oldest two have graduated and moved onto elementary school in West Orange; her youngest will enter the three year old class at Weekday this year. In her (limited) spare time she enjoys reading architecture and interior design blogs and trying new restaurants. She is looking forward to meeting the families and students this school year.
